Charity Details

The New Build Uganda organisation is part of the Devon Development Education Charity, UK (Charitable Company, Registered Charity Number 1102233, Company Number 482496).  It is partnered with the “Food for Thought” sustainable agriculture programme.  The New Build Uganda is an entirely voluntary organisation.

 

Organisation Objectives

To help local communities in Uganda build and improve educational infrastructure for the benefit of the whole community.

 

Charity Ethos

The majority of funds are raised in the UK.  UK volunteers work alongside Ugandan volunteers to build infrastructure in Uganda.  100% of funds raised are spent directly on the project in Uganda.  The local communities in Uganda donate some locally available materials (e.g. sand, water, hardcore) free of charge.  UK volunteers are unpaid and pay for their own expenses.

  • Innovative schemes such as computer refurbishment and “Phone Amnesty 2007.” (30%)
  • Sponsored events and donations. (40%)
  • Corporate sponsorship. (30%)

 

Key New Build Uganda Personnel

Project Co-ordinator – Mark Errington – Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering and a Masters Degree in Engineering Management.

Project Co-ordinator – Richard Britton – Chartered Building Surveyor, Degree in Surveying and over 10 years of experience working as a building inspector in the UK.

Project Engineer – Tom Errington – Degree in Civil Engineering and over 8 years of experience in the UK construction industry.

Works Manager - Jeremiah Kasozi - Over 10 years experience managing building projects in Uganda.
